All students regardless of income qualify for Stafford Loans.  The difference is for some students the interest is paid by the federal government while the student is in school.

Two other sources of financial aid which may work for you are as follows:

Job Service North Dakota may have funding for college if you are a low income family OR have a disability of some type such as a learning disability, etc.  Only income of the student with a disability will be considered when qualifying based on need.  Only programs which require two years or less will qualfy for funding.  As an example, welding, diesel mechanics, clinic labratory technician programs would qualify.

ND Community Action Partnership Individual Development Accounts (IDA) may be able to help.  The program matches savings at a specific rate.  Participants may qualify for up to $4000 ifthey have saved $2000 from a job.  Contact Andrea Olson at 701-232-2452 Ext.119 or at www.capnd.org for more specific information.

ND Vocational Rehabilitation may have college funding for you if you have some type of disability such as diabetes, epilepsy, hearing or vision problems, and many others.  The funding is somewhat based on need, but they do have information about special adaptive devices which may make independent living more successful.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.
